If you are a regular visitor to Cheam Park and the Recreation area, you may well have heard of Alan Howell, who runs a Bootcamp in Cheam Park. He was on a first aid course recently and has started a crowdfunding page (via JustGiving) to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator, similar to the ones illustrated, for the park.
You can read more and donate here – JustGiving
Alternatively, if you are attending the friends of Cheam Park AGM this evening (Tuesday 26th September 2017), you can leave a donation in the collecting bucket.

Whilst carrying out a routine inspection of the trees in Cheam Park, the Council’s tree specialists identified an outbreak of Oak processionary moth on a number of Oaks around the Recreation park. The trees effected are mainly to the rear of some properties in Malden road and adjacent Netley close.
The hairs from this pest can cause skin, eye and throat irritation in humans and animals. We have already notified the Forestry commission, who will be taking steps to remove the nests over the 7-10 days, but as a preventive measure the Council will be putting up signs and barriers around the trees as a preventative measure,

Over this coming year, we have a number of projects planned or under discussion for Cheam Park and the Recreation Ground. However, to achieve our goals, we do requires some assistance. Here are some initial details:
We have two fairs coming up in Cheam over the next two weeks – Cheam Charter Fair week, with the Fair on Saturday 20th May from 9am to 1pm and The Rotary Fair in Cheam Recreation on Monday 29th May. The intention is to have a stall at both of these events to promote Cheam Park and the work that the Friends group undertakes.
We also plan to do some pond clearance in the late Summer and Autumn, which will require a bit of digging.
We need some volunteers to:
- Help on the stall at Cheam Charter Fair (Saturday 20th May) to hand out membership forms*
- Help on the stall at the Rotary Fair in the Park (Monday 29th May) to distribute membership forms*
- Pond digging in later September, early October.
If you can help at any of these events, please email us at email@example.com and we will keep you advised. *A half hour or an hour at each event would be helpful,
