Raising funds for a defibrillator for Cheam Park & Recreation Ground.

If you are a regular visitor to Cheam Park and the Recreation area, you may well have heard of Alan Howell, who runs a Bootcamp in Cheam Park.   He was on a first aid course recently and has started a crowdfunding page (via JustGiving) to raise funds to purchase a defibrillator, similar to the ones illustrated, for the park.

You can read more and donate here – JustGiving

Alternatively, if you are attending the friends of Cheam Park AGM this evening (Tuesday 26th September 2017), you can leave a donation in the collecting bucket.

Oak Processionary Moth detected in trees in Cheam Recreation Park

Whilst carrying out a routine inspection of the trees in Cheam Park, the Council’s tree specialists identified an outbreak of Oak processionary moth on a number of Oaks around the Recreation park. The trees effected are mainly to the rear of some properties in Malden road and adjacent Netley close.

The hairs from this pest can cause skin, eye and throat irritation in humans and animals. We have already notified the Forestry commission, who will be taking steps to remove the nests over the 7-10 days, but as a preventive measure the Council will be putting up signs and barriers around the trees as a preventative measure,
